Abstract

This paper aims to generate a systematic analysis of literature in regard to the utilization of grounded theory in ethnomusicology. The relevance of this research is to generate a framework about the use of this research technique, considering the scarce publications in ethnomusicology field. In this way, it is sought to collate in diverse spaces of academic diffusion, experiences that are ascribed methodologically to the paradigm of qualitative research.
From a methodological perspective, this review is based on the methodological process described by Reboratti and Castro (1999), which consists of four phases: bibliographic tracing, bibliography analysis, location and contrasting of research lines, and thematic gap.
Finally, we reflect on the use of this type of strategies in the field of ethnomusicology and its contribution to qualitative research.
