Abstract

In this article different tendencies of Chilean contemporary musical creation are analyzed in order to understand their main characteristics and possible links with dominant aesthetic paradigms of the past and present, as well as their evolution within our own recent musical history. Through this analysis it is expected to contribute to the reflection on the inevitable tension between individual and collective identity of every creative act, which is particularly important in actual Chilean cultural scene. To that end, we will discuss three key positions or attitudes of contemporary music in Chile: evasion, claim and hybridization
