Abstract

Mauricia Saavedra’s song book is presented in this piece of work. She is a Popular singer from Región del Maule and an oral-tradition poet who writes her verses, claiming authorship, hence this represents a new expository situation regarding the tradition argued. Her song book tells idyllically and ahistorically about the rural world. However, the threat that modern life within the rural world represents is revealed in a veiled manner. Silence as a mode of signification and music as an independent message from the text are the ways Mauricia has to express the menaces of modern life in a traditional life.
